DANCING TO SLOW MUSIC

Learn to dance by listening to the music. Let it lead you into the steps and motions. Let your arms flow in a controlled yet relaxed movement. Let your hips sway and follow it through with your rib cage. Change your movements to the music. The music will tell you which part of your body to move and when to move it. All you have to do is listen. When you understand the music you will be able to pick out the beat of the drum. When the beat is stronger you will accent the beat with your hip bumps, rib cage locks or pelvic locks. When you hear the violin, sway from side to side, blend into hip circles then into the figure eight and into a camel walk or body wave. The kanoun with its seventy two strings will make you shake and shimmy, layering the shimmies with figure eights, sways, hip circles and rib cage moves. The flute inspires the beautiful arm movements with the body waves and sways, ami amis and rib cage circles. The more you listen to the music the more you will be able to pick out all the different instruments and all the changes that occur within a piece of music. You will learn to relax, enjoy the music and let your body do what it was trained to do. Dance!
