Cost For Belly Dance Classes: $45 4 lessons $66 6 lessons $80 8 lessons $15 drop in PRIVATE LESSONS AVAILABLE! $60 per hour Learn Cabaret Style Belly Dance, which will include blending slow movements such as figure 8's, ami-ami, around the world, sways and rib cage isolations into rich, varied portrayals where each move melts into the next, complimenting a chifte teli or any other slow sinuous piece. Connecting fast steps, such as advanced basic, hip bumps, 3 step, walks and turns, with polished interludes and riveting accents. Arm and hand movements to compliment your every move. Manipulating the abdominals. Train those abs to do what you want them to! You will learn the secret of first isolating and then contracting the belly muscles to flip coins and dollar bills. Finger cymbals to beledi, masmudi, 6/8, 9/8 and more. Levels of Study Beginner You will learn basic steps such as hip bumps, isolations, around the world (hip circles), basic arm and hand movements and rib cage movements. Posture will be emphasized. You will begin to learn abdominal muscle control, shakes and shimmies. Zils (finger cymbals) will be taught as well as veil work (dancing with a 3 yard sheer veil). Intermediate You will learn more complex Zil patterns, movements and veil work. Emphasis will be placed on blending your movements and steps and learning to dance with your Zils. Advanced You will learn layering with shimmies, dancing with Zils to rhythms such as 9/8 and 6/8, stage presence will be emphasized, veil work in dance routine, blending of advanced movements and steps. It has been a great success for our Arizona belly dancers for this year of 2006 as it was in the year 2004. Ava Fleming (AZ) in 2004 was the Egyptian Champion and Congeniality Award and People's Choice Award winner. Habib (AZ) 2004 was the Fusion Champion and Peoples Choice Award winner. Diosa (AZ) 2004 in Fusion was 1st Runner-Up. Quite a few Arizona dancers entered the competitions. Carrie Konyha of Sedona (Fusion) Myryka of Scottsdale (Fusion). Some of my students watched the Fusion category while I was teaching my workshops and told me that both Carrie and Myryka were great. Troupe dancers named "Mystique Oriental Dancers" (Alexia, Laura, Pamela, Azita and Michelina all of Bacchanal) danced in the Adult Group Competition. I watched that competition and they were amazing. They interacted with each other and made their troupe dance very exciting. My protégé Christina Karras of Phoenix looked beautiful as always. Her dance technique was very unique and fluid. My protégé Katayna of Scottsdale was the ultimate universal dancer. She did better than ever and looked like a goddess. (I have to brag, I feel so proud of my protégés). Katayna was wearing a beautiful lilac costume, beautifully beaded by the late Joyce Daniels who was also Katayna's instructor. I feel that Joyce was somewhere up in heaven watching and looking out for her. All did a great job. We can be proud of all of them. Congratulations to all of our Arizona dancers who entered the competitions. You were great! Special Congratulations to the ones who won awards this year 2006 Katayna is the Champion of the Universal category (I think this is the most difficult category because the contestants had to dance to 4/4, 6/8 and 9/8 rhythms and they had to play finger cymbals in some part of the routine. Also the four who were chosen to be in the preliminaries had to dance to live music). Christina Karras won the Congeniality Award for the Universal category Myryka won the Peoples Choice Award & the Congeniality Award for the Fusion category All the competitors from all the states and countries were amazing. It was difficult to judge one above the other. The ones who won first place, won by a close margin I’m sure. It was a great experience for all of us.
